William W. Churchill, M.S., R.Ph.

Mr. Churchill is the Executive Director of Pharmacy Services at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, where he has been employed for over 32 years. Mr. Churchill is responsible for leadership of the pharmacy department that consists of 165 staff members and management of an expense budget of over $60 million dollars. Mr. Churchill serves Brigham and Women’s as the Chairperson of the Drug Safety Committee, Vice Chairperson of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and Co-Chairperson of the eMAR/Bar Code Scanning Project Team. He also serves the Partners Healthcare Network as the Co-Chairperson of the High Performance Medicine Improvement team focused on medication safety technology; as the Chairperson of the University Hospital Consortium’s (UHC) Pharmacy Financial Performance Committee; and as a member of the UHC Pharmacy Executive Committee.
Mr. Churchill received his bachelor and master’s degrees from Northeastern University and a Certificate in Health Care Management from Boston University. Mr. Churchill has a faculty appointment as Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Northeastern University, Bouve College of Health Sciences. Mr. Churchill’s main areas of interest and practice include improving the safety and efficiency of medication administration systems, design and implementation of medication safety related technology and automation, and expanding the role of the clinical pharmacy specialist through the use of medication safety technology.

Dr. Massoomi received his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, Lawrence, Kansas in 1990. His post-doctoral education included an American College of Clinical Phamacy (ACCP)-Accredited Fellowship in Infectious Diseases and Pharmacokinetics at the Universite Laval Laboratoire de Pharmacocinetique in Quebec City Quebec Canada in 1991; an ACCP-Accredited Residency in Clinical Pharmacokinetics at Saint Joseph Hospital and Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professionals, Omaha, Nebraska in 1992. He is the Pharmacy Operations Coordinator, Department of Pharmacy at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Massoomi has a broad range of practice experiences which include: pharmacy clerk in community retail pharmacy, research in medicinal chemistry, Indian Health Service Commissioned Officer Student Extern, pharmacy intern for a home health pharmacy, Pharmacy Fellow, Pharmacy Resident, and clinical pharmacist. Utilizing his broad range of experiences, Dr. Massoomi was instrumental with decentralization of clinical services, establishing a closed drug formulary, establishing computerized pharmacy clinical programs to support the clinical team, and automated dispensing. Additionally, he has overseen the updating of the pharmacy department to current practice standards as defined by American Society of Heath-System Pharmacists, United States Pharmacopeia, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Through numerous presentations and publications, Dr. Massoomi has shared his passion for the practice of pharmacy with the goal of promoting the important role that individual pharmacist play in public safety. Dr. Massoomi was honored with the Health-System Pharmacist of the Year award from the Nebraska Pharmacists Association for his work with emergency preparedness for the city of Omaha and State of Nebraska.
Sara J. White, M.S., R.Ph., FASHP

Ms. White is a Pharmacy Leadership Consultant. She served as an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Foundation Scholar in Resident in pharmacy leadership, March-June, 2004. She was the Director of Pharmacy at Stanford Hospital and Clinics and Clinical Professor-UCSF School of Pharmacy from 1992-2003. Previously she was Associate Director of Pharmacy and Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center from 1972-1992. Sara has gained experience in developing, managing, and directing/leading comprehensive, inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care computerized, health system pharmacy services. These services included; clinical pharmacy services, outpatient pharmacy services, satellite pharmacies, intravenous admixture programs, a computerized physician order entry system, unit based automation, Formulary management, and investigational drug services. Her other experience has encompassed; 1) recruiting, developing, motivating and retaining staff, 2) maintaining regulatory readiness, 3) improving medication safety, 4) monitoring controlled substance systems, 5) maintaining positive nursing-pharmacy relationships, 6) managing budgets, cost accounting, and labor productivity systems, 7) merging and unmerging organizations, 8) moving into new buildings, 9) conducting and precepting ASHP accredited pharmacy practice and administrative specialty residencies, 10) managing pharmacy student clerkship training, and 11) teaching graduate and undergraduate School of Pharmacy courses.
Sara completed a bachelor of sciences degree in Pharmacy from Oregon State University, masters of science degree from Ohio State University and an ASHP accredited Residency at the Ohio State University Hospitals and Clinics. She has served as the ASHP president, 1996-1997 and in numerous other elected positions in ASHP, such as, Chair, House of Delegates (HOD), Board Member, and a member of Policy Recommending Councils. In 2006 she received the Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture Award. Sara participated in the American Hospital Association (AHA) Workforce Shortage Task Force from 2000-2002. She has also served as an American Pharmacists Association (APhA) HOD delegate member and on APhA Policy Recommending Committees. She has spoken and published widely.
